Introduction to Motorsport Circuit Racing
INFORMATION FOR NEWCOMERS
All newcomer drivers in Circuit Racing are required to undertake a Motorsport Ireland "Introduction to Motorsport Course" prior to being issued with a competition licence.
The aim of these courses is to give each newcomer a safe and enjoyable introduction to the sport and to prepare them for their first event. The courses are 6 - 8 hours long and include theory, practical and on-track driving tuition and are taught by Level 1 grade Coaches who have been certified by the NCTC and MI. Successful completion of a course is counted as one upgrading signature i.e. one guaranteed event finish!
HERE IS A BRIEF OUTLINE OF WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO DO:
1. HOW TO APPLY FOR AN MI REFERENCE NUMBER
€10 - PAYABLE TO MOTORSPORT IRELAND.

THE APPLICANT WILL BE SENT THE FOLLOWING DETAILS:
- A Booking Reference Number.
- Course Details – how to book, costs etc.
- A Licence Application Form
- Additional preparatory material
2. HOW TO BOOK YOUR COURSE
Contact Mondello Park and quote the Motorsport Ireland Booking Reference Number. The school will advise you of available dates. Please note that dates may change without prior notice.
We would recommend that you contact Mondello Park as early as possible to book your course, as places are limited to 10 per day. You should not enter any Race events until you have completed the Introductory Course and you have received your Competition Licence. You should complete your course a minimum of 14 days before your first event.

The cost of the Introduction to Racing Course is €250.00 payable to Mondello Park Ltd.
3. COURSE DURATION
8.30am to 4.30pm (full day)
Please bring your own pack lunch & cold drinks as these are not provided.
4. DOCTOR'S CERTIFICATE
A Doctor’s Certificate on MI Licence Application Form is required to obtain a competition licence. We recommend that you have your medical certificate completed PRIOR to booking your course. Also, you MUST notify the school of any illness or disability when you are booking your course.
5. JUNIOR RACE DRIVERS
All Junior Race applicants, that is, children from 14 -16 years of age inclusive MUST be accompanied by a parent or guardian for the entire duration of the course. It is the sole responsibility of the parent or guardian to ensure that the Junior Race applicant is able to drive a saloon car in a safe and controlled manner prior to booking to attend this course.
