This week’s Motorsport Ireland – RIAC classic video from the RPM Motorsport collection is highlights from the 2001 Lurgan Park Rally.
Since the mid-90s, Seat’s sponsorship brought the Lurgan Park Rally to new heights and in the latter years of their sponsorship, Gwyndaf Evans’ appearances in the Park in works cars always drew a crowd. Despite Seat’s withdrawal from the World Rally Championship at the end of the year 2000, they still shipped a Seat Cordoba Evo 3 WRC to the event for Evans. In wet and slippy conditions Evans blew the opposition away, taking fastest time on every stage before promptly winning the post event shootout and netting himself £2,000.
