Irish motor racing star Cian Carey signs deal for European LeMans Cup

Former Irish young racing driver of the year Cian Carey has signed his first professional contract to race in the European Michelin LeMans cup with Italian outfit TS Corse.

The 26-year-old is making the move from three hugely successful years in Formula 3 where he won back-to-back British F3 titles to endurance racing this coming season. The Meath man will take on a new challenge of racing a prototype LMP3 car sharing it with Italian teammate Pietro Peccenini.

Over the past few months Carey has been working hard to make the step up to professional motorsport on the international stage with the support of his management team Matt Griffin who works with Ferrari and John Clare, CEO of Artemis-isg. LeMans is one of the biggest championships in the world and Carey will be competing against many of the sports top drivers.

“I’m absolutely delighted to receive my first professional contract. It’s been an incredibly busy few months and it’s just brilliant to be getting such an incredible opportunity. I travelled to Italy last week to meet the team and to do a final evaluation which went really well. TS Corse are a very professional operation and I’m really looking forward to working with them. It’ll be a steep learning curve of pit stops and long stints in the car but I’m very excited and really looking forward to the challenge. A huge thanks to my management team who have worked tirelessly to get me here and my loyal sponsor F Brazil Reinforcements Ltd for their continued support over the years,” said Cian.

The European LeMans Cup Championship takes place in some of the world’s most iconic race venues including Monza and Spa. The 2021 season gets underway on April 17th in Barcelona with the headline race of the year in LeMans in August – the biggest event in world motorsport.

All races will be televised live on YouTube on the Michelin LeMans Cup page. You can also follow Cian’s 2021 season on his Instagram page @ciancarey19 for all the latest news and updates.
