Extensions Available for Motorsport Ireland Officials Licences

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation, all in-person training has been suspended until it is safe to run specific training courses, which we hope will be in the second half of 2021. Prior to the current upsurge in cases, we had originally pencilled in courses for June, however we have no choice but to keep this under constant review.

At a recent meeting of the Motor Sport Council, it was agreed that officials whose licences expired at the end of 2020 could obtain a Six-Month extension to this licence if they needed to use it for an event in the first half of 2021. To do this, the official should email Motorsport Ireland at [email protected], stating their name, licence number, licence type and the event(s) for which the licence is needed. Before the licence is issued, the official must attend an online Zoom mini-refresher course (approx. 1.5 hours) which will include COVID-19 updates, the Respect Module, Rule Changes, and a short Q&A. Officials should apply for licence extensions a minimum of four weeks before the date of the event at which the licence is proposed to being used.

Details of the online course(s) will be made available once we can judge the level of demand.

Please note that in order to fully renew your licence, you will need to attend a normal in-person training event once these events are permitted.

We are taking this action for the safety of all our members and trainers so that we can continue to learn and be updated in a safe environment.  We hope you understand and will participate in the training. We also hope that we will be back out officiating at and competing in events as soon as possible.

Until then, please stay safe and follow all guidelines issued by the government. We look forward to seeing you soon.
