Two wildcards added to the list of nominees for 2023 Sexton Trophy Young Racing Driver of the Year award

Two Wildcards have been added to the list of nominees for the 2023 Sexton Trophy Young Racing Driver of the Year award. Harry McGovern and Jonathan Browne will join the seven young drivers that have already been nominated.

Harry McGovern (23) from Co. Dublin is the first of our wildcards for the 2023 awards . Harry gets the nomination off the back of a stellar year in the Seat Supercup Series and an impressive win in Anglesy.

Co. Meath man, Jonathan Browne (23) is the second of the wildcard nominees for 2023. Jonathan has just completed his second year in Indy Pro 2000, where he achieved multiple top 5 finishes this year aswell as 2 podiums. 

The 7 young drivers that Harry and Jonathan join in the running for the 2023 Sexton Trophy Young Racing Driver of the Year award are:
Jack Byrne
Kayleigh Cole 
Ronan Doherty
Max Hart 
Logan Hoey
Brandon McCaughan
Kian O'Brien

 After succeeding in the previous rounds of notable on-track success and written applications, the nine nominees will undertake a formal interview process this week with a panel of judges representing Motorsport Ireland, Sport Ireland, the Motorsport Ireland Race Commission and members of the media.

The Motorsport Ireland Young Racing Driver of the Year award and the historic Sexton Trophy are presented to the individual who has demonstrated the most potential to represent Ireland at home and internationally both on the track as well as in the public eye. The winner will receive a €50,000 support package to help develop their motor racing career.

The overall winner of the 2023 award will be announced on 06 December at the Crowne Hotel Plaza in Santry. The award is presented annually and is supported by Sport Ireland and Motorsport Ireland.
