JACK BYRNE JOINS GPA RACING FOR CLIO CUP EUROPE CAMPAIGN
Reigning Motorsport Ireland Young Racing Driver of the Year Jack Byrne will take on his biggest challenge to date as the Wexford native has signed a deal with GPA Racing to tackle the 2024 Renault Clio Cup Europe Championship. Byrne enjoyed a very successful season competing in MINI CHALLENGE UK in 2023 claiming multiple wins with Graves Motorsport on his way to finishing 3rd overall and claiming the Graduate championship.

MCERLEAN ANNOUNCES 2024 WRC2 PROGRAMME WITH TOKSPORT WORLD RALLY TEAM
Josh McErlean will return to the FIA World Rally Championship in 2024, behind the wheel of a Toksport Škoda Fabia RS Rally2 for a seven-round programme in the fiercely contested WRC2 category. The 24-year-old ace will start his third season in the coveted World Rally Championship, but following three years with the Hyundai brand, he will switch to Škoda, run by reigning WRC2 champions Toksport WRT.

€17.3m investment for 58 National Governing Bodies of Sport
The Minister for Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media, Catherine Martin, and the Minister of State for Sport and Physical Education, Thomas Byrne, announced a record investment of almost €30 million in core funding support to sporting organisations, through Sport Ireland, for 2024.

CREIGHTON TAKES 2ND IN THE NORTH EAST STAGES, BRC'S OPENING ROUND

Motorsport Ireland Rally Academy driver William Creighton and co-driver Liam Regan took a resounding second-place finish on the opening round of the British Rally Championship. Creighton is dovetailing a British Championship title bid with his World Rally Championship WRC2 programme, and while the North East Stages was important in terms of BRC points, the event also served as a crucial asphalt test ahead of Rally Croatia in the middle of April.

YOUTH MARSHALS & OFFICIALS LAUNCHED AT MAYO STAGES RALLY
On Saturday March 2nd 2024, Motorsport Ireland took another step in the implementation of their 2024 – 2027 strategic plan. This was the launch of the Junior Marshal and Junior Official training programme in the Great National Hotel, Ballina, ahead of the Mayo Stages Rally, Round One of the 2024 Motorsport Ireland Triton Showers National Rally Championship.

FUEL TESTING RESUMES
A reminder that Appendix 2 Article 28.2 is in effect and full testing has resumed. The article states Fuel. Petrol or Diesel in compliance with FIA Appendix J Art 252, Article 9. (Petrol Max 102 octane). With the exception of cars competing in road going production category, cars competing in Motorsport Ireland speed events (Autocross, Rallycross, Rally sprints, Racing, Special Stage Rallying, Sprints and Hill Climbs) it must be possible to take a fuel sample. For fuel injected cars the facility must be a dry break fuel sampling coupling, approved by the FIA. For all others an appropriate fitting to allow fuel sampling must be present. In addition competitors must carry and make available a 600mm minimum length of hose to which, where necessary, the appropriate mating part is to be attached. Cars must have sufficient fuel for a fuel test at any time during an event. Minimum volume required is 3.5 litres.
