Motorsport Ireland was established in 2005 by the Royal Irish Automobile Club (RIAC), an organisation that has overseen motorsports in the Republic of Ireland since 1901.

The RIAC is the holder of the sporting power on behalf of the FIA in Ireland. This power is delegated on an annual basis to Motorsport Ireland.

The RIAC is a private members' club, situated amidst the finest surroundings in central Dublin. The club provides the most up-to-date facilities combined with classical and historic surroundings, offering a unique environment in which members can relax with their guests. The club boasts two restaurants, a bar, members' reading room, and meeting rooms as well as the finest motoring history archive on this island, in the Guinness Seagrave Library. The meeting rooms are available for business or for private functions and in-house catering is available. The club has 140 secure parking spaces, a stone's throw from St Stephen's Green and secure supervised parking is available 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year. THE RIAC ARCHIVE

Situated within 34 Dawson Street, the RIAC Archive is Ireland's only Motoring and Motorsport Archive. It comprises the Guinness Seagrave Library together with a growing collection of material - photographs, film and videos, and other automobilia - relating to the history of motoring and motorcycling in Ireland. The Archive and its research facility are available to bone-fide researchers by appointment.

In line with our aim of establishing the Archive as the premier Irish research facility and repository of historic motoring material, plans have been made for its long-term development. Wide-ranging support is being sought from the Irish Motor Industry, Irish Motorsport and Government sources to enable the archive to meet these aims. The Archive encourages the production of publications relating to Irish Motoring subjects and it is intended to develop a public area where displays relating to Irish Motoring history can be viewed.

FRIENDS OF THE ARCHIVE GROUP

A 'Friends of the Archive Group' has been established to bring together those with an interest in Irish Motoring history and also those who would like to contribute to the work of the Archive. Various memberships are available, ranging from 'Personal', to 'Trade', 'Corporate' and 'Patron'. A regular 'Friends' Newsletter has been established and events organised for members, who enjoy special access privileges to the Archive and its facilities.
