Insurance

Insurance Types

IRDS

For holders of the following licences:
Rally International ITC-R
Rally National A
Rally National B
Clubman Road

We make you apply for this as part of your application if you apply for any of the above licence types. If you do it online, it’s built into the system of mandatory questions. If you use a paper form, there is an extra page to fill out, but we won’t issue your licence without it. The golden rule is: If your licence is in date, your insurance is in date. But you can always check the database below to make sure!

IRDS for Navigators

For holders of the following licences:
Rally International ITC-R
Rally Navigator
Rally Minor Entrant

If you are accompanying a Junior Rally competitor who does not yet hold a full road driving licence, you will be required to drive the road sections for them. As such, this insurance is then required for the navigator. To accompany Juniors, you will also need to hold a Garda-vetted Minor Entrant licence, so make sure you have that too!

BRDS

For holders of the following licences:
Any licence issued by a body other than Motorsport Ireland who wishes to drive in an MI-permitted stage rally

This insurance covers UK and International competitors to drive on road sections of MI-permitted rallies. You can apply directly online (discount rate), or use the paper form. You will be required to provide some basic contact information, a copy of the front and back of your motorsport licence, and then an insurance fee. This fee is paid once per calendar year regardless of how many events you enter.

IRDS-BRDS Database

Once your application has been processed by a member of our team, your information will appear on the database.

If you do not see your name on this database, it means you do not have cover.
