Women In Motorsport
We're here to help you start your journey in motorsport.
Motorsport Ireland proudly supports and encourages women to participate in motorsport, both locally and internationally. With numerous opportunities across various disciplines, women can get involved as competitors or volunteers, with events happening nearly every weekend across the country.
By the numbers…
Currently, our adult female competitors make up about seven percent of our total annual licence holders. We are constantly looking to boost these numbers with the hope of bringing a better balance to the sport. Our female competitors aged under-18 years old make up 13 percent of the licence holders for that age group. That’s almost double. It’s a step in the right direction, but it’s only the beginning.
How Do I Get Started?
The best way to start your motorsport journey is by joining your local motorclub, where you'll be warmly welcomed as a volunteer. Motor clubs offer a range of volunteering opportunities at local events, and you’ll also have the chance to travel and support events organised by other clubs.
If you're eager to compete as a driver or navigator, you’ll need a licence. Visit our Licences section for more details.
The Commission
Founded in 2022, the Motorsport Ireland Women in Motorsport Commission was created to promote and encourage women’s involvement in motorsport.
We’re proud of the progress we’ve made so far. Our commission members bring a wide range of motorsport experience and are here to support you.
