Ireland’s Niall Geaney reappointed to FIA Cost Cap Adjudication Panel

At a recent meeting of the FIA World Motor Sport Council in Kigali, Motorsport Ireland licence holder and Cork Motor Club member Niall Geaney was reappointed as a member of the FIA Cost Cap Adjudication Panel (CCAP). The Cost Cap Adjudication Panel has been established to create a level playing field between all Formula One and Formula E teams and encourage sustainable spending for the long term development of the sport. The Cost Cap Adjudication Panel is made up of independent judges to hear cases in respect of breaches of the Cost Cap rules.

Niall’s reappointment will see him sit on the panel until the end of 2028. He is the current Vice President of the group of judges, having been first appointed to the panel in 2021.

Commenting on Geaney’s reappointment Motorsport Ireland President Aiden Harper said: “It is a tremendous achievement for Niall to have been reappointed to the CCAP. To have Irish representation on such an important FIA panel is something we should be proud of. Niall’s professionalism and passion for the sport is second to none and I am delighted he will continue to be an integral part of the panel, helping to shape exciting new eras for both Formula One and Formula E.”
