Kelsey Kirby Appointed as Motorsport Ireland Sport Development Officer

Motorsport Ireland is pleased to announce the appointment of Kelsey Kirby as Sport Development Officer (SDO).

Kelsey’s appointment as SDO is a key component in Motorsport Ireland’s current Strategic Plan and she will be tasked promoting participation and excellence in motorsport throughout the country.  Kelsey will develop, deliver and evaluate programmes and initiatives which will expand the range of opportunities to increase participation in motorsport, with specific reference to female participation. She will also assist with the delivery of Motorsport Ireland’s Coach Development Programme.

As SDO, Kelsey will foster and encourage a culture of active participation, supporting opportunities for and access to, sport and personal development and will liaise with all affiliated clubs and commissions to understand how she can be a source of help in developing such initiatives.

Speaking on her appointment, Kelsey Kirby, Sport Development Officer, Motorsport Ireland said: “I am really looking forward to this new role and the exciting times that it will bring. In a way, I have been working towards the goal of improving participation for a number of years, but to now be able to build programs and initiatives as part of the governing body, is a really positive thing for the future. My goal is to raise awareness that motorsport is a sport that everyone can enjoy and partake in, regardless of background. I look forward to working with all the clubs, commissions, and members of the public as we aim to grow the sport together.”

Kelsey is a native of Co. Carlow and is an active competitor in the ICCR race series. She joins Motorsport Ireland having being an instructor in Mondello Park.

I have no doubt that Kelsey will build key relationships with participants, organisers and local communities that will see our sport grow significantly. There is significant scope within the role to develop relationships with local communities and we look forward to seeing this bear fruit over the coming months and years."
