Watch the 2005 Tour Brittania from 7pm, Thursday January 9th

This week’s Motorsport Ireland – RIAC classic video from the RPM Motorsport collection is highlights from the 2005 Tour Brittania.

The brainchild of Alec Poole and Fred Gallagher, the Tour Brittania was born as a recreation of the old Tour of Britain which was a mixture of rallying and circuit racing. Running in September 2005, this new four-day event catered for pre-1976 cars and included races, tarmac stages and hillclimbs. With competitors enetered in competition and touring-regularity sections, results were based on an index factor, allowing all crews—irrespective of the age and engine capacity of their cars—to fight for victory and the event’s premier trophy.
